What makes this “desert bird” special among theropods? Recent analysis of it’s lagena (part of the ear structure) and sclera ring (bones in the eye) suggest that shuvuuia filled the same niche as owls, active at night and hunting in the near total darkness! This one is happily showing off their nimbleness, sharp hearing, and night vision by serving in color guard and dodging the marching band on the dark field.
