Open Note to Self - May Edition

I grew up on Jack London stories. Between 4th and 5th grade, I was absolutely obsessed with Call of the Wild, White Fang, and To Build a Fire. I read all of them multiple times, usually in succession. (I know, more signs we really should have recognized when I was nine, right? Anyway—)

Today I learned that over 3000 people are reported missing in Alaska every year. The good news is, it isn’t the 1890s anymore and 90% of them are found within the first day.

But boy oh boy, do I want to learn more about that 10%. Does using this as writing fodder count as schadenfreude?
