I was today years old when… (December Edition)

Un-fun fact: I have never lived in a world that wasn’t affected by the AIDS epidemic. And yet somehow I didn’t know until today that AIDS stands for Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, which somehow makes the whole expression of the disease make much more sense to me. Thinking about this in the wake of World AIDS Day, I can only reflect on how lucky I am that this is the most that this virus has affected me, and how important it feels to learn more about this and other immunocompromised conditions.

But I can’t leave you just with this, so for a fun fact: cats can jump up to six times their body length. In an average cat 18 inches long, that means they can jump 3 yards, or the length of fabric you might need for a floor length A line dress. Or, in the case of my cat, just far enough to land directly on my stomach when he jumps up on the bed. Worth it though when he settles down and starts purring.
